ADVANCE Announces Keynote Speaker Mike Abrashoff

The story of Captain D. Michael Abrashoff and his command of U.S.S. Benfold has become legendary inside and outside the Navy.  At the age of 36, Mike was selected to become Commander of U.S.S. Benfold, a ship armed with every cutting-edge system available, but only some of the productivity.  Few thought that this ship could improve, but Mike only became more resolved to succeed.   He replaced command and control with commitment and cohesion, by engaging the hearts, minds, and loyalties of  the crew.  He not only succeeded in creating a confident crew of inspired problem-solvers eager to take initiative and responsibility for their actions, but also Benefold became the best ship in the Pacific Fleet.
